Job Description

Data Analyst III at Thermo Fisher Scientific, onsite in Carlsbad, CA, turns complex data into actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain interactive and visually compelling Power BI dashboards to present key business insights
  • Extract, transform, and clean data from multiple structured and unstructured sources, including ERP and EDP
  • Collaborate with partners and team members to understand business needs and translate them into actionable data solutions
  • Assist in statistical modeling, KPI tracking, and ad hoc analyses to drive operational improvements and regulatory readiness
  • Document processes, workflows, and methodologies to ensure scalability and reproducibility

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • Strong ability to leverage SQL to query, manipulate, and analyze data across relational databases
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages for statistical analysis, data wrangling, and automation, such as Python or R
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging machine learning and predictive analytics to drive data-informed decision-making
  • Strong proficiency in modern data visualization tools to translate complex data into actionable insights tailored to end user requirements (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Comfortable with advanced Excel features such as Power Query, pivot tables, and VBA for data analysis
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms and cloud-based analytics environments (e.g., Databricks)
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical data and insights clearly to collaborators
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of data governance and quality management principles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong business acumen and customer focus

Compensation
