The Data Engineer role at Booz Allen Hamilton is based onsite in Chantilly, Virginia, focusing on building data pipelines and platforms to organize diverse data for analytics on mission-driven initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver advanced data engineering solutions on mission-focused programs.
- Develop and deploy pipelines and platforms that transform disparate data into meaningful information.
- Lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of analysts, engineers, developers, and data consumers within an agile environment.
- Oversee the assessment, design, construction, and ongoing maintenance of scalable client platforms through analytical exploration and data examination.
Requirements
- 3+ years designing cloud-native data platforms in AWS
- 2+ years designing scalable data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics solutions
- 2+ years supporting cloud migration and modernization efforts
- 2+ years of experience with data pipelines, including data acquisition, data preparation, and database architecture
- Experience with data engineering projects that support data science, AI or ML implementations, and business intelligence dashboards
- Experience with non-relational and semi-relational databases
- Experience creating software for retrieving, parsing, and processing structured and unstructured data
- Experience in team leadership within a collaborative, cross-functional environment
- TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

The Opportunity

A Data Engineer can help transform this data into actionable insights across diverse sources to support important missions, from fraud detection to research and national intelligence.
In this role, you will contribute to building sophisticated technology solutions and leading data engineering activities on mission-driven projects. You will deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize disparate data and make it usable for stakeholders.
You will guide a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile setting, applying analytical exploration and data examination to design, build, and maintain scalable client platforms.
Contribute to data-driven initiatives that support meaningful outcomes for clients and society.
NICE IF YOU HAVE
- Experience with Pyspark and Spark ecosystems such as Databricks and EMR
- Experience evaluating data analytics or data science technologies and platforms
- Experience navigating A&A processes or leading modifications
- Experience with Cloud Architecture and evaluating and selecting cloud analytics architectures
- Experience with Data Marts and Data Warehouses, creating, managing, and troubleshooting complex operational data flows
- Experience with source code management and integration such as GitHub
- Experience designing, developing, deploying, or testing in AWS
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python and SQL
- Experience with APIs development
- AWS Architecture Certifications such as the Solutions Architect Certification
Clearance
TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
Compensation
Salary range: USD 77,600 to 176,000 per year. This job posting will close within 90 days from the posting date.
