Data Engineer AWS & Cloud Data Platforms

Calance US offers a hybrid Data Engineer role in Torrance, CA with a competitive hourly rate and a contract path of 12+ months. You will work on AWS cloud data platforms, build scalable ETL and ELT pipelines, and shape data warehousing on Redshift, all while aligning with security and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy scalable ETL and ELT pipelines on AWS Glue using PySpark for large data workloads
• Build and maintain serverless integrations with AWS Lambda to enable event driven processing and system connectivity
• Design and optimize Redshift data warehouse solutions, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and advanced SQL analytics
• Oversee vendor file transfer and ingestion initiatives using AWS Transfer Family
• Develop database migration and replication pipelines with AWS DMS
• Create and manage orchestration workflows using Apache Airflow or comparable tools
• Evaluate data quality, transformation logic, and performance through SQL-based analysis
• Provide guidance to development team members on AWS data engineering best practices, cost control, and performance optimization
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance teams to meet SOX and regulatory requirements
• Troubleshoot production data pipelines and cross service integration issues across AWS

Requirements

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to interview in person
• 7+ years of experience building data platforms or data engineering solutions
• 5+ years hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
• Strong experience with AWS Glue using PySpark for large-scale ETL processing
• Hands-on experience developing serverless applications using AWS Lambda
• Deep experience with Amazon Redshift, including performance tuning, SQL analytics, and stored procedures
• Experience implementing workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow or similar tools
• Experience implementing secure vendor integrations using AWS Transfer Family
• Experience designing data migration and replication pipelines using AWS DMS
• Strong SQL skills and ability to analyze data using complex queries
• Knowledge of security, encryption, IAM policies, and compliance considerations in AWS environments
• Bachelor's degree required
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments preferred
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and data analysis capabilities
