Data Engineer III
Job Description
At Bank of America, this Data Engineer III role supports technology and business objectives by delivering complex data solutions in a highly regulated environment. You will execute a regulatory-focused project that emphasizes data lineage and will also contribute to data platform migration efforts, including migration work, intensive testing, and security and compliance assurance.
Role focus
- Own regulatory project execution, including regulatory reporting data lineage and Authoritative Data Sourcing (ADS) management
- Drive data platform migration initiatives, including data migration, intensive testing, and security/compliance assurance
- Define and build data pipelines to support data-informed decision making
Responsibilities
- Lead story refinement and help deliver requirements through the delivery lifecycle, assisting team members with resolution of technical complexities
- Code complex solutions to integrate, clean, transform, and control data; build processes for transformation, data structures, metadata, data quality controls, dependencies, and workload management; assemble complex datasets and communicate deployment information
- Lead documentation of system requirements; collaborate with development teams to validate data requirements and feasibility; use architectural components to develop client requirements
- Lead testing efforts by developing test plans and contributing to existing suites, including integration, regression, and performance testing; analyze test reports, identify errors, and lead triage of underlying causes
- Lead work with technology partners and stakeholders to close gaps in adherence to data management standards; negotiate paths forward by identifying and communicating solutions to complex problems
- Lead complex information technology projects to ensure on-time delivery, adherence to release processes, and risk management
- Mentor Data Engineers to support continuous development; monitor key performance indicators and internal controls
- Execute database migration projects
- Support cutover execution and post-migration stabilization
- Create automation and scripts for functionality, reconciliation, migration, and integrity validation
- Work closely with database architects, database developers, application teams, and security teams to resolve issues
Requirements
- 7-10 years of applicable experience (minimum specified: 7 years)
- Strong hands-on experience with RDBMS platforms, including Sybase ASE, IBM DB2 (LUW), or Oracle
- Experience with Data Lineage and ADS sourcing management
- Experience with database migrations
- Experience with ETL tools, especially Informatica
- Preference for best practices experience in regulated environments
