Data Scientist

Leidos is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Huntsville, Alabama team within the National Security Sector’s Cyber & Analytics Business Area (CABA). This on-site role focuses on designing, building, deploying, and sustaining AI and machine learning solutions that support security engineering and defense-related initiatives. The position centers on applying data-driven methods to address mission-critical challenges in a demanding government context.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze data to uncover actionable insights and inform decision making.
• Investigate current and emerging cyber security threats affecting systems and infrastructures.
• Advance reliability and development velocity by advocating and implementing process improvements.
• Help steer the technical direction of products and the underlying technology stack.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and customer liaisons to define and build solutions that address client problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field, with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
• Experience working full-time in an agile software engineering team environment.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Familiarity with Scikit-Learn and PyTorch frameworks.
• Experience performing guided and exploratory data analysis on large datasets.
• Track record of developing AI/ML solutions.
• Knowledge of AI/ML techniques including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, and their respective strengths and limitations.
• Experience reviewing and evaluating academic publications for technical relevance.
• Strong written and presentation abilities.
• Residence in Huntsville, AL or willingness to relocate there.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% per year to testing locations, typically within CONUS.
• U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Final Top Secret/SSBI clearance or be eligible for such clearance.
