Data Scientist
Job Description
Nex is expanding internationally and using that momentum to strengthen its analytics department. As a Data Scientist, you will help the company understand customer behavior with large-scale data, partner across teams on meaningful questions, and share insights in a clear, actionable way.
This is a remote role supporting Nex’s growth across several new countries, with opportunities to design studies, work with massive datasets, and communicate findings across the organization.
What you’ll do
- Explore large customer datasets: With over a million devices sold, hundreds of thousands of active subscribers, and a rapidly growing pipeline, you will work with terabytes of data, including tens of billions of rows.
- Turn questions into analysis: Drive investigation into customer-focused questions coming from teams across the company, and take initiative to move from hypothesis to results.
- Design studies and maintain them: Create study frameworks with the analytics team and help ensure existing systems continue to run as new studies and approaches are introduced.
- Document and publish findings: Produce clear, shareable documentation and white papers that can be understood at all levels of the business, including how you arrived at conclusions and how the company can apply them.
Required qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
- SQL proficiency for retrieving data from a Redshift database
- Ability to work independently, without constant guidance
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments that require iteration and investigation
- Strong written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field

Preferred qualifications
- Additional proficiency in Python or R alongside SQL
- Experience with machine learning tools and/or large data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark
- Experience with A/B testing methodology
- Ability to work in cross-functional environments
- Ability to thrive and create without relying on AI tools as a baseline
