Job Description

Bold Penguin, Inc. is hiring a Data Scientist to design and deploy intelligent insurance AI systems that bring Generative AI together with Quantitative Finance. This remote role centers on building optimization-driven solutions, retrieval-augmented intelligence, and agentic workflows, with an emphasis on rigorous statistical validation and production-ready cloud deployment.

What you’ll do

  • Use mathematical optimization and portfolio theory to address complex resource allocation and market placement problems.
  • Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and manage vector databases to deliver real-time, context-aware intelligence.
  • Design and implement multi-agent systems and orchestration layers to automate complex, multi-step financial workflows.
  • Assess model performance using advanced statistical techniques to support accuracy in high-stakes financial settings.
  • Leverage AWS SageMaker and Bedrock to build, train, and scale machine learning models and agentic tools.
  • Own end-to-end data pipelines, from cleaning unstructured financial data to retraining models to mitigate bias and maintain high-fidelity market insights.

What you bring

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field (including examples such as Financial Engineering).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, with preference for backgrounds in Financial Services, FinTech, or Property Risk Analytics.
  • Proven experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic orchestration, and RAG architectures.
  • Strong foundation in optimization algorithms, statistical analysis, and machine learning principles.
  • Strong Python skills and familiarity with AWS SageMaker and Bedrock.
  • Experience with enterprise data science platforms such as RapidMiner (Altair) for automating financial data pipelines and risk modeling.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with a focus on attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and product teams.

Compensation and location

Location: Remote (remote). Onboarding and optional in-office events may be required.

Salary: USD 86,500 - 134,300 per year.

Work environment and accessibility notes

  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods (up to 8 hours per day) at a desk working on a computer.
