Data Scientist
Job Description
Competera Limited is looking for a Data Scientist to help reshape how the company delivers its solutions, with a focus on retail data, demand modeling, and pricing strategy. This role involves taking projects end-to-end, from turning requirements and data into model-ready work to developing, validating, and bringing solutions into production.
Based in San Mateo, CA with a remote setup, the position is open to candidates with 3+ years of commercial experience in data science or machine learning.
What you’ll do
- Analyze retail datasets to identify patterns and translate findings into data-aware pricing strategies.
- Maintain, tune, and improve existing models by investigating performance issues and tracing them to root causes.
- Design and validate proof-of-concept approaches for new modeling ideas, including challenging existing assumptions when needed.
- Own complex SnD data science implementations for new clients end-to-end: validate business requirements and data, map requirements to existing tools and functionality, develop and evaluate models, and transition the solution into production.
- Research, prototype, and evaluate modeling approaches for new domains and difficult scenarios such as sparse demand, promotions, and evolving sales patterns.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Engineers, Product/Project Managers, and domain experts to improve and productionize new demand modeling approaches.
