Job Description

The Data Scientist, Finance role at Ramp Financial focuses on building models and end-to-end data systems that turn raw information into finance-focused insights. The position partners with Finance and data engineering teams to deliver data products that can inform and influence business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop full stack solutions, including building models that consume, transform, and expose data to stakeholders and production systems
  • Advance a culture of experimental design by driving a testing agenda and sharing best practices
  • Contribute to the Data team’s scalability by influencing processes, tools, and systems that support better decision-making
  • Collaborate with Finance teams such as GTM Finance and StratFin to develop financial insights and influence business decisions
  • Partner with data engineering teams to capture, move, store, and transform raw data into actionable insights, and work with business teams to apply those insights

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in Data Science, Software Engineering, or Finance
  • Strong AI proficiency to adopt new skills and subject matter quickly
  • Proven record of shipping high quality products and features at scale
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, continuously improving start-up environment using iterative technical solutions
  • Familiarity with financial metrics and processes (e.g., contribution profit, financial statements, monthly close) and/or B2B enterprise sales cycle metrics and processes
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (preferably Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery) and the ability to write efficient SQL queries

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with the modern data stack (Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Hightouch, or equivalents)
  • Familiarity with BI tools (preferably Looker, Omni, Sigma, Hex, or equivalent) and distributing data insights through reports and dashboards
  • Strong intuition for business strategy and customer empathy, including ROI, growth channels, sales cycles, and customer incentives
  • Strong perspective on analytics engineering development cycle, including data modeling, version control, documentation and testing, and best practices for codebase development
  • Experience partnering with finance teams or within the payments and financial technology space

Compensation

  • Target base salary: USD 137,120 - 297,330 for SF/NY
  • Offers equity
  • Final compensation depends on location and the level at which the candidate is hired
