Job Description
UT Southwestern offers a role for a Data Scientist II in Dallas, TX (onsite), supporting biomedical research from data acquisition through analysis. What you’ll do
Under general direction, you will analyze research data and develop algorithms and software to address clinical and/or basic research problems. Your work will contribute to computational approaches used across basic, translational, and clinical research, including clinical trials.
- Analyze and develop formalisms, algorithms, and software for biomedical research applications.
- Develop and maintain software tools and infrastructure to solve defined computational problems.
- Build, test, and revise programs as part of a team with diverse bioinformatics expertise.
- Advise and assist users and other personnel in analyzing, defining, and resolving computational problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring
- Master’s Degree (M.S.) in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, (Bio)mathematics, (Bio)statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) with demonstrated experience in broadly defined areas of bioinformatics.
- 2 years of post-graduation experience in data analysis and/or scientific software development for a Master’s degree; or
- 4 years of post-graduation experience in data analysis and/or scientific software development for a Bachelor’s degree.
