Data Scientist – NAICS Classification & Analytics

Alliant Group is seeking a Data Scientist to help analyze and interpret business data using NAICS codes and advanced analytics. In this onsite role in Houston, TX, you will build predictive models and improve automated NAICS classification and mapping workflows using large datasets and machine learning.

The work focuses on transforming messy, multi-source business information into accurate industry classifications and decision-ready insights for stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large datasets to identify business trends, industry patterns, and market opportunities.
• Apply NAICS codes to accurately classify businesses by industry and sector.
• Design automated processes to assign, validate, and update NAICS codes across company databases.
• Develop predictive models to identify prospective clients and business development opportunities.
• Clean, organize, and standardize large volumes of company and industry data.
• Create algorithms that match companies to appropriate NAICS classifications using business descriptions, products, and services.
• Use machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) to improve industry classification accuracy.
• Detect discrepancies in NAICS classifications and recommend corrections.
• Partner with sales, marketing, business development, and leadership teams to deliver actionable insights.
• Produce dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Integrate information from external business databases and public industry datasets.
• Continuously improve data quality, classification methodologies, and analytical processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data science, data analytics, or a related technical field.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience working with large business datasets.
• Knowledge of NAICS codes and industry classification methodologies.
• Experience with machine learning, predictive analytics, and statistical modeling.
• Strong skills in data cleansing, validation, and data management.
• Ability to translate complex data into meaningful business insights.
