Job Description

Design, build, and support governed enterprise data models and analytics solutions that serve quality, regulatory, clinical, operational, and research needs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain governed enterprise data models and reporting and analytics solutions for quality metrics and regulatory requirements using Epic-based electronic health data plus other healthcare data sources
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across the Enterprise Data and Analytics Department (analytics engineers, data engineers, data architects, BI developers)
  • Use tools in use at UCI Health, including Microsoft Fabric, data transformation and governance tools, Git-based version control, and Microsoft Power BI to deliver reliable and accurate analytics products
  • Apply software engineering practices to data transformation, including version control, code review, automated testing, modular data modeling, and documentation
  • Support the shift from traditional report-writing analytics toward a data product organization
  • Partner with end users to understand and anticipate how data models and structures can proactively address clinical, operational, and research questions
  • Coordinate across the broader University of California Health ecosystem, including collaboration with other institutions across UC Health

Requirements

  • Ability, skill, knowledge, and capability to perform assigned duties successfully

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Ability to perform basic performance tuning to optimize queries to meet user needs
  • Ability to maintain an appropriate work pace for the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System, School of Medicine, UCI Research Administration, and other UC System campuses
  • 5+ years working in healthcare analytics experience (EHR data)
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL
  • 3+ years of healthcare-related analytics or reporting experience
  • 3+ years of experience with BI reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Crystal Reports, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience using Collibra or a similar Data Governance platform
  • Experience with software development life cycle including CI/CD and automated testing practices applied to data pipelines
  • Experience developing code and maintaining technical documentation within a centralized code repository
  • Epic Revenue cycle clarity data model certification(s)
  • Epic Clarity / Caboodle Certification
  • 5+ years experience with SSMS, SSIS, PowerBI or Tableau
  • 3+ years experience working with healthcare finance and revenue cycle data
  • 3+ years experience working with cloud-based analytics platforms and architecture (e.g., Fabric, Databricks)
  • 3+ years experience working with Epic EHR
  • 3+ years experience using version control and collaborative code review workflows
  • 1+ years hands-on experience building and testing data models in dbt, including staging/intermediate/mart layer design and dbt tests

Salary

  • USD 108,100 - 204,900 per year
