Livestock Data Analyst
Job Description
Ag Business Solutions is seeking a Livestock Data Analyst to uphold the integrity of livestock inventory and cost data across large cattle operations, reconciling movements and discrepancies to inform financial reporting and strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
- Ensure livestock inventory accuracy by investigating discrepancies, reconciling activity, and supporting precise operational reporting.
- Enter purchases, transfers, and sales records per shipment load by collecting and confirming individual animal records.
- Investigate and resolve inventory variances by reviewing supporting documentation and collaborating with the cattle team, external vendors, and operations managers.
- Update heifer records for pregnancy status and other identifiers.
- Collect and input invoices into the software.
- Allocate purchases and related costs to the appropriate animals and operations.
- Reconcile monthly expenses to ensure proper cost allocation.
- Complete monthly inventory tasks, including:
- Filling out physical inventory roll-forward support
- Reconciliation of calf program
- Identifying and cleaning up heifer records
- Prepare supporting documentation for audits and bank reporting.
- Other inventory tracking and analysis responsibilities within dairy and beef cattle operations.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Agribusiness, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in inventory management, operations, accounting, agriculture, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, or a similar analytical role involving inventory tracking, reconciliation, and problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to manage multiple data entry systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to investigate variances independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with professionalism in vendor and manager interactions.
- Enjoys building new processes as well as reviewing current processes.
- Prior experience in dairy, livestock, or agricultural business support preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet monthly deadlines.
