Job Description

Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate Data Scientist for Bank Operations Data Science to advance analytical initiatives within its operations. This onsite role in McLean, VA centers on building and deploying machine learning models across development stages while collaborating with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers, and supporting call center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Utilize Python, Snowflake, and a broad tech stack to uncover insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data.
  • Develop machine learning models through all phases of the lifecycle — design, training, evaluation, validation, and deployment.
  • Translate complex technical outcomes into clear business goals and actionable steps.
  • Work directly with the call center operations team to streamline call processing, including summarization and automation to better support customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) plus 5 years of data analytics experience.
  • Master's Degree in a quantitative field or MBA with a quantitative concentration plus 3 years of data analytics experience.
  • PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related).
