Job Description
The Senior Analytics Engineer role at Centene Pharmacy Services is based onsite in Florida. This position focuses on designing, building, and scaling modern analytics pipelines and assets to support advanced analytics and decision making, leveraging Snowflake, dbt, GitLab, and Power BI, in collaboration with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own scalable data pipelines that ingest both external and internal data into Snowflake, including automated ingestion of file-based sources.
- Architect and maintain dbt transformation workflows to produce curated, production-grade data models and tables.
- Define and enforce standards for data modeling, performance optimization, data quality, and reliable pipelines across the analytics platform.
- Develop and maintain Python- and SQL-based processes for data ingestion, validation, transformation, and monitoring.
- Oversee the adoption and ongoing use of GitLab for version control, code collaboration, and CI/CD across the analytics team.
- Establish and operationalize team standards for source control, code reviews, deployment workflows, and documentation.
- Create, optimize, and own Power BI datasets, semantic models, and reporting layers to support scalable analytics and decision making.
- Collaborate with clinical, operational, and business stakeholders to translate data needs into technical solutions and communicate insights effectively.
- Mentor teammates on data engineering workflows, Snowflake, dbt, GitLab, and Power BI to enable shared ownership and reduce single points of failure.
- Continuously improve platform architecture, tooling, and processes to sustain a scalable, maintainable, and modern analytics ecosystem.
- Support expansion of Snowflake capabilities, including application layers or integrations, to enable advanced analytics and operational use cases.
- Contribute to advanced analytical initiatives, including identifying cost-savings opportunities and deriving insights from complex healthcare datasets.
- Requirements gathering: lead meetings with senior stakeholders and IT, may guide cross-functional efforts, own presentation materials, and translate requirements into accessible technical and business terms; may mentor junior engineers.
- Data modeling: apply expert data and analytics knowledge to autonomously build tables and views, understand key data sources and limitations, and work with cloud analytics components such as Databricks, Data Mesh, Delta Lake, and Data Lakehouse.
- Analytics code development: manage code governance, propose SDLC improvements, develop test plans and validation controls, and implement gold layer objects in support of the Centene supply chain methodology.
- Source code and documentation management: define departmental principles for code and documentation, and may oversee multiple code bases with broad domain exposure.
- Defect investigation and remediation: deliver products with very low defect rates, address defects of any complexity, and take ownership of critical issues; may define remediation standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
