Senior Data Engineer

Wells Fargo is hiring a Senior Data Engineer for its CCIBT organization within the ECRT team. In this hybrid role, you will help build technology solutions that support the identification, measurement, aggregation, and reporting of counterparty credit risk across the enterprise, working in environments that span planning, delivery, and engineering leadership.

Role overview

• Work within technical domain environments to lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables.
• Contribute to large-scale planning of strategies tied to technology solutions for counterparty credit risk reporting.
• Act as an escalation point for projects and provide guidance to less experienced staff.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, debug, and document projects and programs, including upgrades and deployments.
• Review moderately complex technical challenges by evaluating technologies and procedures in depth.
• Resolve moderately complex issues while supporting existing and potential new client needs, using knowledge of function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements.
• Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals.
• Lead projects and provide direction to team members, including serving as an escalation point.

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, and/or education.
• 4+ years of Python development experience.
• 4+ years of SQL development and data analysis experience.
• 2+ years of Power BI reporting and dashboard development experience.

Desired qualifications

• 3+ years of experience supporting Counterparty Credit Risk functions within Capital Markets environments.
• Experience developing and supporting data visualizations using Dremio.
• Java development experience.
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and stand-ups.
• Proficiency with Jira and Confluence for project tracking, collaboration, and documentation.
• Experience utilizing CI/CD tools to automate build, testing, and deployment processes.
• Experience working with Apache Iceberg table formats in modern data platforms.
• Experience leveraging GitHub Copilot to enhance developer productivity and code quality.
• Ability to use Agentic AI tools to design, develop, test, optimize, and maintain data pipelines and data solutions.

Work location and job expectations

• Charlotte, NC (hybrid).
• Must be able to work onsite at one of the posted locations; hybrid work schedule is available.
