Senior Data Engineer

Flow Control Group’s Central Data Platform team builds and runs an end-to-end ELT workflow in Snowflake using dbt and Fivetran. As a Senior Data Engineer onsite in Charlotte, NC, you will help keep transformations reliable and scalable, improve performance, strengthen monitoring and security practices, and ensure data products deliver the right information to the business.

What you’ll do

• Apply deep technical expertise across dbt and the Snowflake environment.
• Design, build, and manage dbt-based data transformations for warehouse and marts.
• Create reusable components, templates, and proof-of-concept solutions to accelerate delivery.
• Develop and manage data pipelines as needed to move data from sources to the data warehouse and data marts.
• Implement and enhance functionality in Snowflake, including optimization of large-volume processing.
• Collaborate with data team members to analyze source data and define transformation requirements.
• Develop testing frameworks so solutions meet requirements and perform as expected.
• Enhance monitoring for workflows and processes to improve visibility and reliability.
• Support data warehouse processing with comprehensive technical support and troubleshooting.
• Design security standards and ensure proper implementation of security controls.
• Partner with business users, technical teams, and data stewards to produce documentation and metadata.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen system capabilities.

What you bring

• 5+ years developing and scaling dbt projects.
• 5+ years with Snowflake.
• Proven experience designing and implementing dbt transformations in large-scale enterprise analytics environments.
• Deep knowledge of the Snowflake environment, including databases, security, and AI capabilities.
• Experience working with pipeline tools such as Fivetran.
• Proven experience designing and managing security requirements.
• Experience supporting data engineering applications.
• At least 5 years working cross-functionally while managing multiple projects and priorities.
• Expert SQL and data analysis skills.
• Experience with Python and AI.
• Strong understanding of data integrations, data warehousing, data modeling, and data engineering.
• Ability to evaluate performance, traceability, and usability, and to translate business processes into technical requirements.
• Expertise creating architecture diagrams and documenting requirements and design details.
• Familiarity with Azure and cloud architectures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality service for internal and external customers.
