Gen Re offers a senior leadership opportunity in analytics and innovation within Life & Health reinsurance. This role is based in Stamford, CT with a remote‑friendly arrangement and a base salary range of $155,000 to $259,000 per year.

As the Vice President of Business Development for Analytics & Innovation, you will drive growth by identifying opportunities where data, automation, and underwriting innovation can improve client outcomes such as risk selection, pricing, speed, and consistency. You will collaborate across underwriting, product, data science, sales, and operations to translate complex capabilities into clear client value and to expand engagements with targeted solutions.

Role overview

The Vice President, Business Development – Analytics and Innovation leads growth within Gen Re’s Client Solutions team by developing and expanding value‑added services for reinsurance clients. The role identifies market needs, shapes analytics‑driven capabilities, and strengthens client partnerships to deliver measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Help define and advance the value‑added services strategy by spotting opportunities where data, analytics, automation, and underwriting innovation improve client outcomes
  • Collaborate with the Client Solutions group to execute the strategy in line with client needs and company objectives
  • Convert intricate technical capabilities into straightforward value propositions for clients
  • Originate, structure, and close new and expanded engagements around franchise and targeted solutions
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to embed value‑added services into broader client strategies and deal discussions
  • Lead assessments including pricing, risk‑selection framework development, cost‑benefit analyses, and business planning for value‑added initiatives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client partners across underwriting, product, data, and innovation functions
  • Lead client discussions on underwriting modernization, AI adoption, and data strategy
  • Represent Gen Re at industry forums, conferences, and client workshops
  • Partner closely with underwriting, pricing/products, sales/marketing, data science, and Ops/IT to shape market‑ready solutions
  • Influence roadmap prioritization by incorporating market feedback, viability, and client impact
  • Stay informed on trends in underwriting, analytics, AI/ML, data sources, and regulatory developments
  • Support pilot programs and proofs‑of‑concept with target clients

Requirements

  • 10+ years in Life & Health reinsurance, direct insurance, or related financial services with a strong foundation in underwriting innovation and analytics
  • Proven success in business development and client strategy roles
  • Deep understanding of underwriting processes and how analytics, automation, or decision‑support tools improve risk assessment and outcomes
  • Experience collaborating with data science, actuarial, or underwriting innovation teams
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to senior executives and non‑technical audiences
  • Track record of influencing internal stakeholders without direct authority
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (FSA/ASA, MBA, data science or related) preferred
  • Willingness to travel as required
