The Software Data Engineer role sits within the Performance Marketing arm of The Walt Disney Company’s Enterprise Media and Marketing team. The position focuses on delivering end-to-end data pipelines, building and improving data tools, and adding safeguards that support data-driven paid media optimization.
Role Focus
- Support Performance Marketing with end-to-end data pipelines from source systems to downstream consumer teams, applications, and users.
- Build and manage tooling used by the Performance Marketing group.
- Enable safe, accurate optimization for in-flight ad campaigns and key business metrics through quality controls, monitoring, and safeguards.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to development of the Performance Marketing tools suite.
- Lead data engineering, data modeling, and architectural standards; maintain rigor for pipeline development, observability, and documentation.
- Design, implement, and operate end-to-end data pipelines across the full lifecycle from source to end consumer.
- Collaborate with media and marketing experts to move from prototypes to production-ready pipelines and applications.
- Implement quality controls, monitoring, and other safeguards to ensure optimizations are applied accurately and safely, with reliable presentation of key business metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3+ years of experience designing and delivering backend architectures in a production environment, with strong familiarity with design patterns and best practices.
- Strong judgment on the practical use of AI/LLMs in the software development process, including the ability to distinguish hype from value and apply it effectively.
- Experience with Spark and SQL; ability to build simple, maintainable data pipelines on scaled data platforms.
- Ability to deep-dive into technical components when needed.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into reality-based requirements.

Compensation and Location
This is a remote position with an office location in Burbank, CA.
- The hiring range for this remote position in Burbank, CA is $106,900.00 - $143,300.00 per year.
- Base pay offered will consider internal equity and may vary based on candidate geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
