Data Analyst

At the University of California, San Francisco, the Data Analyst will support investigator-initiated ophthalmology clinical studies through meticulous data management, statistical analysis, and the preparation of tables, figures, and manuscripts for publication. This onsite role in San Francisco collaborates closely with investigators and study teams to ensure regulatory compliance and effective study coordination, including IRB submissions and ongoing data quality oversight.

Responsibilities

• Manage study data across datasets and databases
• Maintain research data repositories such as REDCap
• Protect data quality and integrity throughout the study lifecycle
• Perform statistical analyses using R, SAS, Stata, or equivalent software
• Support grant applications, abstracts, and manuscript preparation
• Assist with IRB submissions and continuing reviews
• Coordinate study documentation and regulatory files
• Maintain regulatory documentation and compliance records
• Facilitate participant scheduling and follow-up activities
• Collaborate with investigators and study teams to ensure adherence to protocols and regulatory requirements
• Prepare publication-quality tables, figures, and manuscripts

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer, computational, data science, or domain sciences with a computer/data specialization, plus at least three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent background
• Proficiency with R, SAS, Stata, or an equivalent statistical software package
• Knowledge of statistical methods used in clinical or biomedical research
• Experience with data cleaning, validation, and quality assurance
• Ability to produce publication-quality tables, figures, and reports
• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), IRB requirements, and human subjects research
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and collaboratively
