Data Analyst
Job Description
Virginia Peninsula Foodbank is seeking a Data Analyst to support its mission through research, data collection, analysis, and program evaluation. This onsite role in Hampton, VA helps strengthen a unified client data system and enables partner agencies to use client intake and data tools to improve data quality and generate actionable insights.
Role overview
The Data Analyst supports program performance by planning and delivering research and evaluation work end to end, from development through completion. The position also streamlines data collection and analysis practices across departments so findings can be communicated clearly through reports, dashboards, and data visualizations for both internal and external audiences.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and support the Foodbank’s client data system across programs and partner agencies.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term strategies to improve client data collection, accuracy, and utilization.
- Train and support partner agencies in the use of client intake and data systems.
- Plan and manage research, analysis, and evaluation projects from development through completion.
- Analyze program and partner data to identify trends, measure outcomes, and provide actionable insights.
- Streamline data collection and analysis practices to improve consistency and accuracy.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that communicate findings effectively to internal and external audiences.
- Support organizational data needs, including fundraising, strategic planning, program evaluation, and performance tracking.
- Establish and maintain data quality and quality-control practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams and community partners on research and evaluation initiatives.
- Assist with identifying resources and funding opportunities for ongoing client data initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (required).
- Minimum of two years of experience in project management, program evaluation, research methods, data analysis, or a related area.
- Experience working with databases, data management, and/or data analytics (preferred).
- Research methodology experience, including community-based research (preferred).
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret data and translate findings into clear, useful information.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with data analysis and visualization tools; Tableau and similar platforms are a plus.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively support and train internal and external partners.
Salary and location
- Salary: USD 53,711 - 59,645 per yearly
- Location: Hampton, VA 23661 (onsite)
