Job Description

Robert Half is hiring a Data Engineer to support cloud data capabilities and help create dependable, scalable data platforms for analytics and reporting. The role focuses on building data solutions, strengthening automated data movement, and maintaining performance and stability across large-scale environments.

What you’ll do

  • Build data solutions that improve how analytics and reporting teams access, trust, and use information.
  • Design and enhance automated data movement processes to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
  • Support large-scale cloud data environments by improving performance, troubleshooting issues, and helping maintain platform stability.
  • Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into practical data solutions.
  • Develop and refine data models for operational reporting, business intelligence initiatives, and future growth.
  • Work with multiple data sources and formats to ensure information can be used across teams and applications.
  • Help set data quality standards through validation, monitoring, and ongoing improvements.

Required qualifications

  • Cloud-based data engineering and platform development
  • Data warehousing and analytics environments
  • SQL development and data modeling
  • Python-based data processing and automation
  • Building and supporting modern ETL or ELT frameworks
  • Large-scale data processing technologies such as Hadoop or Cloudera
  • Data quality, governance, validation, and performance tuning
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to meet client background clearance requirements
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder

Helpful technical experience

  • AWS services such as Glue, Athena, and Redshift
  • Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Hive, or EMR
  • Kafka or other streaming technologies
  • PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
  • Linux administration and scripting
  • Agile development environments
  • AI-assisted development tools

Role details

  • Location: Madison, WI (onsite)
  • Compensation: USD 100,000 - 140,000 per yearly
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
