Data Engineer - Project Delivery Senior Analyst
Job Description
Deloitte offers an onsite opportunity in Cincinnati, OH for a Senior Data Engineer focused on designing, building, and operating scalable data pipelines and curated datasets across a large scale delivery program. The role provides a salary range of USD 76,725 to 127,875 per year, eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive program, and limited travel. This position centers on AWS and Snowflake, with collaboration across diverse functional and technical teams to drive measurable outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support scalable batch and near real time data pipelines on AWS.
- Craft robust ingestion patterns from source systems into S3 and Snowflake.
- Develop transformation layers and curated datasets in Snowflake, including dimensional and data product modeling for analytics and downstream applications.
- Implement orchestration and workflow automation on AWS with retries, backfills, and idempotent operations.
- Build reusable Python components for ingestion, validation, and transformations; enforce standards through code reviews and testing.
- Support Snowflake performance and cost optimization through warehouse sizing, concurrency patterns, query tuning, clustering, and workload isolation.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into well defined datasets and data contracts.
- regularly communicate with Engagement Managers, project team members, and representatives from various functional and technical teams, escalating matters requiring attention from engagement management.
- Lead client engagement workstreams focused on process improvement, optimization, and transformation, implementing best practice workflows and driving operational outcomes.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience delivering production grade data pipelines and curated datasets as a Data Engineer.
- 4+ years of hands-on SQL and Python experience, including Snowflake and/or PySpark for scalable data processing and ELT.
- 4+ years designing, building, and supporting batch and near real time data pipelines on cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable).
- Experience with data integration frameworks and orchestration tools.
- Working knowledge of Lakehouse or warehouse architectures and ELT patterns.
- Understanding of DevOps principles: CI/CD pipelines, version control, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Ability to optimize data storage, partitioning, file formats (Delta, Parquet), and overall performance.
- Understanding of data quality, data governance, and metadata management.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
- Ability to travel about 10 percent on average, depending on client needs and assignments.
