Job Description

Canon U.S.A., Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist to transform diverse data into actionable business insights in Melville, NY, with a hybrid in-office/remote schedule. The role spans marketing analytics, customer intelligence, and AI-enabled decision support, leveraging internal systems and external data sources to build predictive models and scalable analytics solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Examine complex marketing and consumer behavior challenges using internal CRM, web, and sales data alongside external market signals and advertising platforms.
  • Develop, assess, and deploy predictive models such as attribution, customer lifetime value, churn forecasting, and trend analysis using Python and Vertex AI on Google Cloud.
  • Construct optimized queries and manage large datasets with BigQuery as the primary database.
  • Cleanse, integrate, and automate pipelines for sizable marketing data streams.
  • Provide cross-functional marketing teams with dynamic, self‑serve analytics dashboards in Tableau, translating model outputs into actionable daily insights.
  • Guide the marketing division on Gemini and Gen AI adoption and strategy.
  • Leverage Google Workspace Studio and NotebookLM to compile, synthesize, and centralize marketing intelligence and research.
  • Design, configure, and demonstrate customized AI bots (Gems) or other AI solutions to scale repeatable tasks like copywriting, campaign analysis, and translation.
  • Evaluate and deploy AI Agents to optimize marketing operations.
  • Facilitate the team’s operational migration to Google Workspace.
  • Automate cross‑application marketing workflows (Sheets, Gmail, Docs, Calendar) with Google Apps Script to reduce bottlenecks.
  • Gather large structured and unstructured datasets; clean, transform, and preprocess data for analysis.
  • Address missing data, anomalies, and perform feature engineering; analyze sales, marketing, and operations data.
  • Forecast trends and outcomes such as churn and sales; recommend actions based on model outputs.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies; answer questions about what happened and why performance changed.
  • Work with Python, R, SQL, and machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Scikit‑learn); employ big data tech (Spark, Hadoop) as needed.
  • Present complex findings in clear formats; build visualizations or dashboards to communicate insights and create recurring reports.
  • Develop dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, and Looker; emphasize clarity and usability for business users.
  • Conduct A/B testing and design experiments to validate hypotheses; ensure data consistency and reliability and validate reports and metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, or a related field, with 3–5 years of relevant experience; strong statistical and analytical skills and proficiency with MS Office.
  • Experience with data tools such as Python, SAS, or SQL is preferred; statistical/quantitative background is advantageous.
  • Solid programming skills (Python, SQL); experience with machine learning and statistics.
  • Data visualization experience (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Matplotlib); data wrangling and preprocessing capabilities.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, business acumen, and strong communication skills.
  • Experience with BigQuery; proven Generative AI work experience; expertise with Notebook LM and Google Workspace Studio.

Workstyle

Hybrid work arrangement with full-time status. In-office presence required three days per week, with the option to work remotely on remaining days unless business needs require otherwise. Schedules and office reporting requirements may adjust based on organizational needs.
