Job Description

A Principal Data Analyst in Strategy and Analytics at Capital One focuses on innovating and delivering data driven solutions across Innovation, Business Intelligence, and Data Management to support strategic decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage open source and digital tools to extract insights from diverse, large-scale data sources and platforms
  • Create robust data solutions, tools, and capabilities that enable self service for data consumers
  • Assess new technologies quickly to advance multiple initiatives
  • Collaborate with the business to translate needs into tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization
  • Conduct analyses that yield actionable insights to inform business strategies
  • Promote data quality practices including metadata, lineage, and clear business definitions
  • Partner with technology teams to implement security controls and data access governance
  • Develop tools to monitor and report on data quality

Requirements

  • Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field
  • Experience scripting with Python, R, Spark, or SQL
  • Strong statistical and machine learning background including regression, classification, clustering, and causal inference
  • Experience with data in multiple forms, including data warehouses/SQL and unstructured data
  • Experience using and developing with AWS services
  • Bachelor's in a quantitative field with 5+ years of data analytics experience, or a Master's with 3+ years of data analytics experience, with degree to be completed by the start date
  • At least 3 years of experience with at least one scripting language
  • At least 3 years using a business intelligence visualization tool
  • At least 3 years querying and analyzing data languages and platforms
  • Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
  • 4+ years coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQL
  • 4+ years applying process improvement methodologies such as Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma
  • 2+ years using and developing with AWS services
  • 2+ years delivering Data Governance and Data Quality Management practices in the financial services industry
