Role overview
As a Software Engineer III focused on AWS Glue and data engineering, you will design and deliver trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner as part of an agile Corporate Sector team.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the design and development of scalable, resilient systems using AWS ETL to support continual, iterative improvements for product teams
- Develop and implement software solutions, including design, coding, and technical troubleshooting
- Produce secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that operate in concert with related systems
- Contribute to architecture and design artifacts for applications while ensuring code aligns with design constraints
- Gather, analyze, and synthesize data to create visualizations and reports from large, diverse data sets to drive software improvements
- Identify hidden patterns in data and leverage insights to enhance coding hygiene and system architecture
- Engage with software engineering communities of practice and events to explore new and emerging technologies

Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering with 3+ years of applied experience
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficient in coding with AWS Glue and AWS EMR
- Proficient with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Exposure to AWS cloud technologies
- Understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
- Experience developing applications across multiple cloud and traditional data engineering technologies, including AWS services like Glue, EMR, and data warehouses
- Recent experience ingesting data from on premise applications into AWS private cloud using services such as S3, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, Glue/Glue Studio/Glue workflows/Glue Data Catalogue, CloudWatch, Aurora MySQL/PostgreSQL, and EMR with Python or PySpark
- Experience in comprehensive analysis and design with knowledge of RDMS systems such as Oracle; strong SQL and PL/SQL skills
