Job Description

Deloitte is hiring a Sr. Data Scientist to support business-facing analytics and lead client engagement workstreams within its Project Delivery Talent Model. This hybrid role in New York, NY focuses on applying data science to improvement, optimization, and transformation efforts, with an emphasis on SQL and Python analytics, data storytelling, and the practical use of AI/LLM capabilities for business problems.

Role Summary

You will perform analytics using data science techniques while partnering closely with business stakeholders and leading engagement workstreams. The work is structured around communicating insights clearly, translating findings into actionable recommendations, and delivering operational outcomes through leading-practice workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Execute analytics using data science methods; collaborate with business stakeholders; tell stories from data.
  • Maintain regular communication with Engagement Managers (Directors), project team members, and representatives from functional and/or technical teams, including escalating items that require engagement management attention.
  • Independently and collaboratively lead client engagement workstreams focused on process improvement, optimization, and transformation.
  • Implement leading-practice workflows, address quality deficits, and drive measurable operational outcomes.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Science, with a strong focus on business-facing product analytics; experience with financial products is a plus.
  • 7+ years with SQL and Python, plus data visualization tools such as Tableau for full-stack analysis.
  • Experience designing and interpreting A/B tests, including control group setup and efficacy measurement.
  • Working knowledge of when and how to apply AI/LLM capabilities to business problems, and the ability to communicate recommendations to business partners (not a deep ML/AI engineering role).
  • Strong critical thinking to break down ambiguous problem statements into actionable steps.
  • Demonstrated ability applying statistical rigor and machine learning techniques to derive insights from large, complex datasets.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter capable of driving projects with limited supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, or Applied Social Sciences.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • Ability to travel 10% on average.
  • Hybrid schedule: On-site Tur/Wed/Thu.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Tableau or similar BI and visualization tools.
  • Equal parts business and technical proficiency.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 124,700 - 207,800 per year. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic differential; a reasonable estimate for the current location is noted above.
