Job Description

Realtor.com is building a reliable digital analytics clickstream platform that teams across product, marketing, and engineering can depend on. In this Staff Analytics Engineer role (onsite in Austin, TX), you will set the measurement strategy and technical standards, guide architecture and delivery outcomes, and help ensure the organization’s web and mobile behavioral signals are complete, accurate, and usable for analytics, reporting, and experimentation.

What you’ll own

  • Technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for clickstream data collection across the organization, aligned to business objectives and KPIs at scale
  • End-to-end clickstream data collection outcomes across web and mobile products, focused on completeness, accuracy, and usability
  • Measurement decisions: define what gets measured, why it matters, and how event schemas and behavioral signals support analytics, reporting, and experimentation needs
  • Instrumentation specs that engineering can implement without ambiguity, including events, parameters, identifiers, schemas, and data contracts
  • Proactive identification and closure of instrumentation gaps in collaboration with engineering and QA teams
  • Audits of tagging and tracking health through data analysis, surfacing improvement opportunities and shaping future measurement decisions
  • Root-cause analysis for complex tracking and data discrepancies, plus architectural changes that prevent recurrence
  • Mentorship for senior and mid-level engineers and analysts, sharing clickstream and instrumentation expertise across the organization

What you bring

  • 8-10+ years in digital analytics or clickstream tracking implementation at enterprise scale, with experience owning outcomes end-to-end
  • Experience architecting, implementing, and operating enterprise clickstream platforms using tools such as Amplitude, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Segment, Snowplow, Google Tag Manager, and Kafka
  • Hands-on skills designing event-based data models for web and mobile, including event taxonomies, parameter and identifier design, and data contracts
  • Ability to turn ambiguous business questions into precise instrumentation specifications, and orchestrate delivery across Product Engineering, Analytics, QA, and platform partners
  • Strong JavaScript for tracking implementation, with fluency in browser and mobile debugging tools and experience with scalable data pipelines
  • SQL proficiency in a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake) to validate data quality, investigate anomalies, and own analysis
  • Working knowledge of data governance, privacy, and consent frameworks (GDPR, CCPA) and how they impact instrumentation design
  • Experience enabling self-service analytics at scale through standardized metrics frameworks, reporting taxonomies, or dashboards
  • Demonstrated use of AI-enabled tools (Claude, Gemini, Cortex, Copilot, etc.) as a productivity force multiplier
  • Excellent written and verbal communication: clear technical specs, documented architecture and governance decisions, and tradeoff explanations for both technical and non-technical partners
  • Experience working with consumer digital products at scale (real estate, media, marketplace platforms)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Marketing, or a relevant field

Technologies you’ll work with

  • Amplitude, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Segment, Snowplow, Google Tag Manager, Kafka
  • JavaScript, SQL, Snowflake
  • GDPR, CCPA
  • Claude, Gemini, Cortex, Copilot

How the role fits

This is a senior individual contributor position with broad technical authority. You will define the measurement strategy, standards, architecture, and roadmap that other teams build against, act as the clickstream subject matter expert across the organization, and ensure downstream teams receive reliable, well-documented data for analytics and experimentation.
