Analyst, Information Technology (Data Engineer)
Job Description
The Analyst, Information Technology (Data Engineer) at Oriental Bank is a mid‑level data engineering role based in San Juan, Puerto Rico with a hybrid work arrangement. The position focuses on designing, building, and operating scalable data pipelines and platforms for banking and financial services data in a regulated environment, leveraging Snowflake and AWS. A bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience are expected.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines for batch and event driven data ingestion, leveraging Snowflake and AWS.
- Model and optimize Snowflake schemas, including tables, views, and secure data shares, to support analytics and downstream consumption.
- Implement scalable data processing solutions using SQL and Python.
- Integrate with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, and IAM to enable data ingestion, processing, and access control.
- Create and sustain pipelines that handle financial transactions and customer data with accuracy, completeness, and auditability.
- Implement data quality checks, reconciliation logic, and monitoring appropriate for regulated financial data.
- Collaborate with data architects to ensure pipelines align with enterprise data models, standards, and governance expectations.
- Support production deployments via Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code practices.
- Participate in Agile delivery teams, contributing to sprint planning, design reviews, and technical documentation.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Three or more years of professional experience in Data Engineering or a related role.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Strong hands on experience with Snowflake, including data ingestion, transformations, and performance optimization.
- Experience working within AWS cloud environments, particularly with S3 and serverless services.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience handling large, complex datasets.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing and pipeline automation.
- Experience with modern data engineering tools and frameworks such as dbt, Airflow, Spark/PySpark, or equivalents.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD practices, and production support workflows.
