Data Analyst

The Data Analyst supports regional data analysis, reporting, and usage strategy, managing and reporting on school-level and regional data to advance the regional strategic plan and improve instructional practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor real-time data reports and dashboards (for example, Tableau reports) to inform decisions at regional and school levels
• Collect and incorporate feedback from teammates and end users to enhance the product
• Provide training and coaching on using reports and dashboards
• Collaborate with the broader Data Team to define the regional data analysis and reporting plan and deliverables
• Conduct descriptive and predictive analyses using outputs from the student information system, student assessments, teacher evaluations, and other organizational data platforms
• Translate data into actionable insights and support stakeholders in interpreting findings
• Tailor analysis complexity to audiences with varying data literacy, including regional teams, principals, teachers, Board members, and funders
• Anticipate and empathize with stakeholder reactions
• Mentor school and organizational leaders on using data to improve instructional planning and drive student achievement
• Support the implementation of a central access point for relevant data reports and dashboards and ensure functionality within the access solution
• Maintain knowledge of regionally standardized data sources and systems, updating analyses and visualizations as new updates occur
• Execute external and internal data requests related to student or staff information and other relevant data
• Collaborate with the Managing Director of Data and Analytics and stakeholders to identify key metrics and ensure data collection for analysis, exploring new lines of analysis
• Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, encouraging questions and opportunities for data support
• Plan and lead training sessions for school and regional staff on using data systems and interpreting data reports
• Participate in cross-functional data analytics and compliance efforts to meet organizational data needs
• Collaborate with Data Team members to develop and maintain a data warehouse of relevant data sources and ensure data linkages between sources and the warehouse
• Develop an understanding of KIPP Atlanta data models and systems integration processes to enable tool building and data quality investigations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in education or non-profit settings
• Strong project management skills
• Robust quantitative and analytical capabilities with experience handling large data sets to derive insights
• Knowledge of the education field and familiarity with current student data systems (e.g., Infinite Campus, eSchoolPlus), assessment platforms (e.g., Illuminate Education, NWEA MAP), behavior platforms (e.g., Kickboard, LiveSchool), and relevant data sets (demographics, student achievement, attendance, behavior)
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills
• Experience with data visualization and dashboard tools (Tableau)
• Experience training and communicating data and analytics products to audiences with varying levels of expertise
• Experience programming in data analysis languages or software (SQL, R, Stata, SPSS)
• Passion for data, analytics, and data-driven decision making
• Proven ability to set and meet challenging targets
• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships quickly

Compensation

Salary: USD 75,000 - 112,500 per year

Location and Work Conditions

This role offers hybrid flexibility and requires regular presence on campus and in schools around the region. Based in Atlanta, GA, the position may require schedule flexibility including evenings and occasional weekends. Routine physical activity is expected, and there may be lifting up to 25 pounds. Engagement in school-based activities requiring standing, walking, and mobility is expected.
