Job Description

CorVel Corporation is seeking a Data Analyst III to translate complex data into actionable insights that steer decisions and support profitability across multiple departments. The role sits in Irvine, California with a hybrid work arrangement and requires occasional travel to Irvine for annual training and within the first 30 days. Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced data cleaning and analysis, including hypothesis testing (ANOVA, chi-squared) and multivariate modeling techniques
  • Provide strategic and tactical insights by analyzing data to deliver actionable recommendations focused on growth, cost reduction, and operational performance
  • Analyze data results using statistical tools and deliver ongoing reports
  • Identify and interpret trends and patterns in complex datasets
  • Transform data and conduct in-depth root-cause analyses, presenting findings through visuals, tables, and descriptive text
  • Detect and resolve data anomalies
  • Collaborate with internal customers such as DBAs, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to build relationships and develop analytical solutions that meet needs
  • Assist stakeholders in creating a BRD with minimal direction
  • Drive projects through the SDLC with minimal direction
  • Produce dynamic, clear reports and dashboards to help executives address highly complex problems using standard BI tools and established protocols
  • Engage in report development, specification design, and testing facilitation
  • Present complex analyses succinctly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Conduct preliminary research on new tools and software capabilities for future use
  • Mentor junior team members and collaborate across technical and non-technical departments
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Intermediate SQL proficiency with the ability to work with stored procedures, temp tables, subqueries, variables, unions, CTEs, and related constructs
  • Basic to intermediate Power BI skills, including data modeling and advanced dashboards with bookmarks and cross filtering
  • Advanced Excel reporting capabilities, including pivot tables, data analysis, and complex formulas
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages (R, STATA, MATLAB, Python) for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and automation
  • Understanding of Project Management principles and SDLC
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and predictive modeling
  • Expertise in data cleaning and transformation to ready data for analysis
  • Ability to translate business objectives into actionable data insights
  • Strong presentation skills; comfortable communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail
  • Creative problem solving and process optimization capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of CorVel’s services from a data perspective and the ability to anticipate reporting needs
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience; college degree preferred

Pay Range

Pay range: $92,673 to $143,587 annually. Compensation is market-based and may vary by location, experience, and other factors. New hires may be placed at different levels based on interview assessments, with any adjustments clarified during the offer process.
