Job Description

The Data Engineer position with the Office of Statewide Pretrial Services is based onsite in Springfield, Illinois. The role focuses on analyzing pretrial data, producing reports and dashboards, and supporting data integrations and research to improve OSPS programs across Illinois. The position reports to the Deputy Chief Information Officer. The annual salary range is USD 91,848 to 116,184.

Responsibilities

  • Develops code in SQL, R, and Python to access data, generate reports, evaluate operations, and identify trends.
  • Conducts statistical analysis of pretrial data and builds dashboards for senior executive management and community stakeholders.
  • Ensures data integrity in pretrial reports produced by OSPS.
  • Evaluates data on pretrial operations to identify trends and insights.
  • Leads integrations with third party vendors on data integrations and reporting platforms.
  • Implements special research projects related to pretrial functions and operations.
  • Develops best practices for data collection, integration, review, and quality assurance.
  • Fosters productive working relationships with third-party software vendors, county pretrial departments, other government agencies, and community agencies regarding pretrial activities.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of pretrial services and related criminal justice and community corrections issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least three years of proficient experience with MSSQL, R, and Python.
  • At least three years of experience working with qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Ability to be LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System) certified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • A valid Illinois Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, with a safe driving record.
