Data Scientist
Job Description
Booz Allen Hamilton is recruiting a Data Scientist to support DoD leadership with data science analysis, project leadership, mentorship, and turning strategic questions into actionable insights. This onsite role is based in Alexandria, VA, with a salary range of USD 99,000 to 225,000 per year. The position requires a Bachelor's degree and at least six years of relevant experience, and it offers opportunities to collaborate across teams while helping advance mission objectives.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform statistical analyses on large, multi-source datasets, ensuring analytical rigor.
- Create production-quality visualizations, plots, and dashboards for technical audiences and executives.
- Lead data science initiatives from scoping to delivery, maintaining alignment with mission objectives.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate strategic questions into analytic approaches and deliver actionable insights.
- Handle ad hoc analytical requests in an agile workflow, balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Mentor junior data scientists and establish standards for reproducible, well-documented analyses.
- Communicate complex statistical findings to both technical teams and senior DoD leadership.
Requirements
- Six or more years of experience in data science, statistical analysis, or quantitative research.
- Six or more years building algorithms using R or Python with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, or Tidyverse.
- Six or more years analyzing structured and unstructured data sources.
- Strong background in statistics including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, experimental design, and uncertainty quantification.
- Experience managing large-scale data with SQL across multiple databases and data warehouses.
- Experience with large-scale datasets and distributed computing frameworks such as Spark or Dask.
- TS/SCI clearance.
