Data Scientist
Job Description
Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a Data Scientist in Alexandria, VA, onsite, to turn large amounts of structured and unstructured data into actionable insights and build models that inform decision-making. This role combines hands-on analytics with client collaboration, guiding algorithm development and applying data science techniques across both public and private sector projects.
Responsibilities
- Leverage leadership and data science expertise to deliver tangible, real-world impact.
- Partner with clients to clarify questions, then explore data-rich environments to identify key information.
- Mentor teammates and steer the development of algorithms and data systems.
- Apply an appropriate mix of tools and frameworks to synthesize disparate data points into clear, decision-ready answers for clients.
- Provide a comprehensive understanding of the data and guidance on how to apply insights.
Requirements
- 3+ years' experience manipulating and analyzing data with programming languages, including Python, R, and SQL.
- Experience deploying and maintaining user-facing or accessible models.
- Background in data cleansing, analytics, inferential statistics, programming, data visualization, and system integration to deliver data solutions.
- Proficiency in creating data visualizations, dashboards, or lightweight web applications to communicate insights.
- Knowledge of research design principles and analytic methods used in applied mathematics, computer programming, or data visualization.
- Ability to apply supervised and unsupervised machine learning to structured and unstructured data.
- TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Clearance
Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
Compensation
The posted salary range for this role is USD 99,000 to USD 225,000 per year. Booz Allen determines pay based on location, education, skills, experience, contract affordability, and organizational requirements. This range reflects typical compensation but is not the total package.
Identity Verification
As part of the hiring process, Booz Allen uses identity verification leveraging biometrics and AI to ensure authenticity. Interviews and assessments may require on-camera participation, and Booz Allen may take a photo to verify identity and prevent fraud.
Candidate AI Usage Policy

Work Model
Onsite: work primarily at Booz Allen offices or customer facilities. Hybrid: frequent in-person work at Booz Allen facilities, with potential visits to customer sites. Remote: some remote work may be available, with possible in-person requirements as needed by the role.
