Job Description
The Fabric Data Analyst role supports data-driven decision-making by designing and maintaining Power BI reporting solutions on the Microsoft Fabric data platform. You will build dashboards and semantic model-driven reports, ensure accuracy through validation, and apply governance practices such as security and data quality checks.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and publish Power BI reports that use Fabric semantic models in DirectLake and Import modes.
- Convert business needs into logical data models and clear, well-labeled report layouts.
- Develop and optimize DAX measures that support the KPIs used by the business.
- Collect, document, and iteratively improve reporting requirements with business partners.
- Apply row-level and object-level security within semantic models to meet governance standards.
- Validate reports against source data to ensure accuracy.
- Create certified datasets and reusable templates so teams can answer their own questions.
- Participate in peer reviews of reports, DAX logic, and model design, and share improvements and learnings.
- Present insights and collaborate across teams to turn data into decisions.
- Use AI tools to improve analysis, sharpen deliverables, and accelerate delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Experience building Power BI reports and dashboards in a professional setting (1 to 3 years).
- Hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience, including data modeling (required).
- AI experience with a track record of using AI tools in your work (required).
- Working knowledge of DAX for measures, calculated columns, and time-intelligence functions.
- Strong data modeling fundamentals including star schema, relationships, and cardinality.
- SQL skills to query relational sources and validate data behind reports.
- Power Query and M for Import-mode transformations.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams to present data and solve problems.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience aligned with membership or loyalty programs.
- DP-600 Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate certification is preferred.
- The DP-600 certification is required within 12 months of hire.
