Job Description

The IT Systems and Business Data Analyst role at Gillette Steel Center focuses on supporting and enhancing the company’s technology landscape while partnering with the business to drive data informed decisions, process improvements, and cross-functional collaboration. This position is based onsite in Gillette, Wyoming.

Responsibilities

  • Business Analysis and Process Optimization: Lead structured discovery sessions with stakeholders to define business needs, constraints, and success criteria; document current-state and future-state workflows (process maps, SOPs, and system interactions); translate business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications; identify gaps between current systems and desired outcomes; recommend practical solutions; partner with operations, sales, and finance to align technology solutions with business objectives; define and track KPIs to measure process effectiveness and improvement impact; support user acceptance testing (UAT), including test case development, execution, and validation of outcomes; drive standardization of processes and data definitions across departments; act as a liaison between business users and technical resources; support development, maintenance, and refinement of business and technical documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with standards and system design.
  • End User Technology and Hardware Lifecycle: Procure, configure, deploy, and maintain computers, monitors, mobile devices, and peripherals; provide responsive technical support and troubleshooting for hardware and software issues; manage device building, patching, and lifecycle replacement planning; maintain inventory accuracy within the asset management system; manage the digital reporting solution including players, content, and scheduling; partner with third party resources as required.
  • Infrastructure and Systems Administration: Administer and support the company network, including connectivity, performance monitoring, and basic security controls; manage and maintain core server infrastructure including operating system and application updates, disk space monitoring, backup verification, and routine health checks; troubleshoot performance or availability issues; lifecycle planning including upgrades, replacements, and decommissioning; manage the print environment including Zebra label printers, Zebra handheld scanners, Kyocera production printers, and HP desktop printers; support and maintain the phone system and related telephony services; coordinate and partner with external vendors as required.
  • Data, Reporting and Business Intelligence: Develop and maintain SQL based datasets and reporting structures to support operational decision making; design and deliver Power BI dashboards focused on actionable insights; work with stakeholders to define meaningful metrics and ensure consistency in definitions across the business; analyze trends in operations such as production, inventory, and delivery performance to identify improvement opportunities; ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance across reporting sources; proactively identify data gaps and recommend improvements to data capture processes.
  • Application and Database Support: Maintain and update the Microsoft Access Asset Management database; maintain and update the Microsoft Access Incident Management database; assist users with technology in day-to-day activities; support line-of-business applications and coordinate updates or vendor support; ensure data integrity and usability across supported systems.
  • Project Leadership and Technology Initiatives: Serve as IT lead or coordinator for technology projects such as ERP implementations or system upgrades; assist in requirements gathering, vendor coordination, testing, and rollout planning; track project milestones, risks, and deliverables; lead requirements definition including business rules, process flows, and data requirements; ensure traceability from business need to requirement to solution and outcome; facilitate cross-functional alignment during projects; evaluate solution effectiveness post-implementation and recommend adjustments.
  • Business Process Improvement: Analyze end-to-end workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and rework; quantify impact of proposed improvements in terms of time savings, cost reduction, throughput, and error reduction; implement process changes and monitor adoption and effectiveness; standardize repeatable processes to reduce variability and improve scalability; balance system capability, user experience, and operational realities when recommending changes.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting business IT environments including hardware, network, printers, and user support
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration
  • Experience troubleshooting networks, devices, and peripherals
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools
  • Exposure to ERP systems or system implementations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements
  • Ability to map business processes such as workflow diagrams and swimlanes

Pay

Salary: USD 95,000 - 160,000 per year

Work Location

Onsite in Gillette, Wyoming

Preferred

  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or distribution environments
  • Strong business and technical writing skills with experience producing policies, procedures, or audit-ready documentation
  • Project coordination or project management experience
  • Familiarity with Zebra devices and print environments
  • Experience maintaining small databases such as MS Access
  • Basic SQL query writing ability
  • Broad business understanding beyond IT functions
  • Experience defining and tracking KPIs and performance metrics
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma concepts
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, production scheduling, or inventory workflows
