Junior Data Analyst
Job Description
Josephson Dunlap, LLP seeks a part-time Junior Data Analyst based in Houston, Texas to support the firm’s Data Analyst and the litigation team. In this role, you will help organize, review, and analyze case-related data that feeds into wage and hour damages calculations, with a strong focus on accurate, Excel-driven workflows.
You will work onsite and contribute to both day-to-day data organization and quality-control activities, ensuring that payroll, timekeeping, and related records are handled carefully and consistently. Training will be provided on the firm’s damages methodologies, processes, and systems.
What you will do
- Assist the Data Analyst with organizing, reviewing, and analyzing case-related data.
- Support preparation of damages calculations and related analyses for wage and hour matters.
- Use Microsoft Excel to organize, clean, manipulate, and analyze datasets.
- Review payroll, timekeeping, and other case-related records used in data and damages analysis.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets, including formulas, calculations, reports, and data summaries.
- Perform mathematical calculations and quantitative analysis based on established methodologies.
- Compare information across multiple data sources to identify discrepancies, missing items, or unusual results.
- Conduct quality-control checks to verify data accuracy and completeness, including calculations.
- Assist with preparing data and analysis for attorneys and other members of the litigation team.
- Maintain organized and accurate data files and supporting documentation.
- Help with special projects and other data-related assignments as needed.
Key requirements
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting and filtering, and organizing and analyzing data.
- Strong mathematical and quantitative skills.

- Ability to work with large amounts of detailed information and identify inconsistencies or errors.

Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or coursework in mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, accounting, data analytics, business, or another quantitative field.
- Experience using Excel functions such as PivotTables, lookup functions, conditional formulas, and other data-analysis tools.
- Previous experience working with payroll data, financial data, reporting, or large datasets is helpful but not required.
- Prior experience in a law firm or with litigation-related data is a plus but not required.
