Population Health Data Engineer

Two experienced Population Health Data Engineers are needed in Charlestown, MA ( hybrid ) to help build scalable data pipelines and integrate clinical and claims data for population health analytics. The role emphasizes data quality, governance, and HIPAA compliance, with collaboration across Healthy Planet, clinical, quality, and analytics teams to deliver data-driven solutions that support quality measurement, risk analytics, and utilization insights.

You will work within the Epic data ecosystem, design ELT pipelines on modern cloud platforms, and develop data models that enable longitudinal patient level analytics, care management, and payer-provider benchmarking. This is a collaborative role in a healthcare analytics environment that values clear data governance and measurable impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for population health and claims analytics.
• Work extensively with Epic data platforms, including Clarity, Caboodle, Chronicles, Registries & Rosters.
• Integrate clinical and claims data to support longitudinal patient level analytics.
• Develop and optimize data models for quality measures, risk stratification, and utilization/cost analysis.
• Support care management initiatives.
• Build and support risk adjustment models (HCC, RAF, MARA).
• Process and transform medical and pharmacy claims data.
• Work with Milliman MedInsight data models for payer-provider analytics and benchmarking.
• Develop and optimize ELT pipelines using modern cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with Healthy Planet, clinical, quality, and analytics teams to deliver data driven solutions.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and HIPAA compliance.
• Optimize performance for large datasets and complex SQL queries.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Epic Clarity and Caboodle
• Chronicles data structures
• Experience with Epic Registries and Healthy Planet
• Background in Population Health and Value Based Care
• Knowledge of risk adjustment (HCC, RAF, MARA)
• Snowflake data warehousing experience
• DBT (Data Build Tool) proficiency
• Snowflake Dynamic Tables
• Advanced SQL and data modeling expertise
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines
• Medical and pharmacy claims data experience
• Payer-provider analytics domain experience
• Milliman MedInsight experience preferred
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Data Engineering or related field
• 6+ years of experience in data engineering
• Healthcare, Population Health analytics, and payer environments (preferred)
