Job Description

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Research Data Analyst (TIPQC) to help advance complex qualitative and quantitative health policy and public health research. This role supports perinatal quality care by managing data end to end, producing analysis-ready datasets and reports, and partnering with faculty, data teams, and participating hospitals to improve reliability of data capture and clarity of insights.

How you’ll help improve perinatal quality care

  • Work with faculty and the data team to create, implement, test, and revise initiative data forms and reports across the project lifecycle.
  • Manage data systems and datasets, including data cleaning, monitoring data entry status across participating teams, preparing analysis-ready datasets, and coordinating with TIPQC staff and faculty.
  • Gather, organize, manage, and statistically analyze data to support perinatal quality improvement (QI) projects and monitor progress toward maternal and infant health outcome goals.
  • Perform QI data analysis using statistical analysis software and spreadsheet/database tools, producing routine and ad hoc reports for multiple QI projects.
  • Design data collection tools, survey instruments, and protocols, including data dictionaries/definitions and validation procedures for standardized, reliable data capture.
  • Consult with TIPQC staff, faculty, and subject matter experts on data results, providing interpretation support to QI project participants to inform improvement actions.
  • Assist with analysis of collected data and support dissemination efforts, including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports to funders summarizing progress toward defined process and outcome measures.
  • Support rural hospitals with their QI Scholar projects, as assigned.
  • Design and administer surveys, analyzing responses to identify barriers, successes, and opportunities for collaborative learning and improvement.

Collaboration, training, and technical support

  • Provide training and support to participating hospitals on data systems, data entry expectations, and interpretation of reports and findings.
  • Act as a technical liaison between TIPQC and participating hospitals’ clinical, QI, informatics, and IT teams.
  • Support mapping hospital EHR data to TIPQC standardized submission requirements, test data submissions, and resolve data-quality issues.
  • Coordinate technical support for hospital-led implementation and testing of project screening and documentation workflows, with hospitals’ IT/informatics teams and EHR vendors retaining responsibility for configuring and modifying their systems (clinical content approved by appropriate clinical leaders).
  • Monitor and respond to stakeholder and participating hospital feedback in a timely, service-oriented manner.
  • Support communications across multiple groups, including scheduling meetings and sharing timely updates.
  • Maintain hospital team contact lists and distribution lists to support consistent outreach.
  • Prepare presentation materials for monthly hospital huddles, individualized coaching calls, and stakeholder meetings, including data-driven slides.

Research and conference support (as needed)

  • Conduct background research in collaboration with faculty to support proposed QI projects and toolkit development.
  • Support content creation and organization of materials for distribution to participating hospital teams.
  • Assist with preparation of dissemination materials, including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts.
  • Support branding, logistics, and planning for annual conferences and in-person meetings, including the annual TIPQC conference.
  • Assist with planning agendas, speakers, panels, and breakout sessions for in-person collaborative learning opportunities.
  • Plan dates, coordinate speakers, and assist with facilitation of QI topic calls and collaborative learning sessions.
  • Travel as needed to assist teams with implementation support, including potential IT/EMR-related screening workflow support (as appropriate to role scope).
