Job Description

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a Senior Pharmacist Data Analyst in Memphis, TN to help turn pharmacy and healthcare data into practical, decision-ready insights. In this onsite role, you will partner with pharmacy and enterprise teams to build analytics capabilities that support medication safety, operational performance, patient outcomes, and regulatory compliance.

What you will do

  • Design and deliver analytics solutions such as dashboards, visualizations, reports, self-service tools, and advanced analyses.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, financial, and executive stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable analytics solutions.
  • Analyze complex healthcare data from sources including Epic, Omnicell, wholesaler systems, and other pharmacy-related platforms.
  • Develop insights that strengthen medication safety, improve operational efficiency, support patient outcomes, enhance financial performance, and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a bridge between pharmacy operations and enterprise analytics teams to align data initiatives with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Lead projects that increase data accessibility, analytics maturity, and informed decision-making within the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Services.
  • Use data visualization and user experience principles to create intuitive solutions that help end users explore and understand data independently.
  • Support business teams with centralized data management, security, governance, and support.
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring a data governance strategy in line with organizational expectations, regulatory requirements, and standards.
  • Design and develop data load processes for structured and unstructured data, optimizing reuse and following industry best practices.
  • Lead development of databases and/or ETL processes for on-prem and cloud-based systems.
  • (For analytics development) Independently perform activities such as business requirement analysis, technical design, leading dashboard design sessions, developing data warehouse structures, and supporting dashboard development, testing, maintenance, and refresh.
  • Stay current on data engineering, visualization practices, and emerging technologies that add value to service and data integration delivery.
  • Train and mentor junior team members.
  • Apply critical analysis to draw meaningful conclusions and conduct root-cause analysis as needed.
  • Respond effectively to setbacks by creating workable plans, adapt to changing needs, communicate across perspectives, and tailor presentations to the audience.
  • Use a data-driven approach to detect early signs of underperformance and take corrective actions, while recognizing successes.
  • Coordinate across scrum teams and contractors to deliver shared team goals and adjust communication as work requirements change.
  • Monitor data processing infrastructure (databases, data flow pipelines, reporting and visualization servers), including space requirements, job completion, and technical issues.
  • Develop requirements for data modeling, data structures, documentation of business logic, and reporting specifications.
  • Leverage knowledge of data architecture to improve data integration and analytics.

Minimum requirements

  • Graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmacy Education (required).
  • Licensure by the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy (required).
  • If licensed in another state, obtain a Tennessee Pharmacy License within four (4) months of employment.
  • Four (4) years of combined experience in pharmacy practice and/or information systems support or application development (required).

Preferred experience

  • Data modeling, reporting, and metrics creation within electronic health records (Epic).
  • Experience with MS SQL.
  • Pharmacy-specific software experience (e.g., Epic Willow, Omnicell).
  • Epic Caboodle and Cogito certifications.
  • Experience with programming/querying languages.
  • Some experience with enterprise reporting tools for report development.
  • Some experience creating dashboards using data visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and data warehousing applications.
  • Two (2) years of pharmacy practice experience at St. Jude or a comparable institution with demonstrated excellent professional performance.

Compensation

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $104,000 - $186,160 per year for this Senior Pharmacist Data Analyst role.
