Job Description

Senior Data Analyst for Johns Hopkins University’s BESAFE program, based in Baltimore, MD with remote work options. The role emphasizes turning data into actionable insights, performing advanced analyses, and creating visuals to inform programs, policy, and stakeholder decisions while supporting cross-country research coordination and knowledge translation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure assessment activities align with overarching strategic objectives and goals.
  • Transform data into insights that drive improved outcomes.
  • Partner with leadership to design and execute assessment initiatives, advising on data collection, analysis, reporting, and using results to strengthen programs and services.
  • Produce an annual assessment report summarizing findings for the school or division.
  • Lead the development of clear, impactful visualizations that support strategic objectives.
  • Communicate results visually and persuasively through dashboards, reports, briefing decks, stories, scorecards, and executive summaries for diverse audiences using Power BI and Tableau.
  • Offer insights on data patterns and trends and provide strategic recommendations based on analyses.
  • Design and build end-to-end data visualizations, from concept through analysis to final visuals, guided by principles of effective data storytelling.
  • Collect and analyze complex data sets; in collaboration with others, perform statistical analyses and summarize findings in appropriate reports or communications.
  • Apply visualization techniques to distill complex processes or data into clear representations.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of all visualizations to ensure accuracy, usability, and alignment with branding and styling guidelines.
  • Create and maintain a repository of analyses, slides, and dashboard links.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement an efficient survey planning system that minimizes fatigue and maximizes actionable data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Oversee the full data lifecycle for BESAFE studies, from instrument design and database architecture through cleaning, analysis, and visualization.
  • Bridge rigorous data management with knowledge translation by turning complex datasets into accessible outputs for journals, policy briefs, conferences, and advocacy materials aimed at clinicians, regulators, and global health stakeholders.
  • Fluency in both quantitative and qualitative data environments is required, with experience in survey platforms, statistical software, and qualitative analysis tools such as MAXQDA.
  • Contribute to BESAFE's mission by supporting manuscript development for peer-reviewed publications, grant reporting and compliance documentation, and data assets for clinical frameworks, campaigns, and accredited CME programming.
  • Support cross-country research coordination across BESAFE's geographies, including the United States, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Kenya, and Rwanda, requiring cultural competency and management of data across diverse regulatory and healthcare contexts.
  • Architect and maintain database infrastructure for the six-country HCP KAP survey, including branching logic, cross-country harmonization, and IRB-compliant data handling across jurisdictions.
  • Support traditional and non-traditional publications across journals, white papers, conference reports, and science communication products, ensuring data integrity and proper citation of BESAFE-generated evidence.
  • Translate findings from systematic reviews and primary studies into data assets for regulators, clinical associations, and donors beyond manuscripts.
  • Manage MAXQDA codebooks, audit trails, and intercoder reliability across BESAFE qualitative studies, including the Trust and Blind Spots clinician detection study.
  • Analyze learner outcome and pre/post assessment data from BESAFE's ACCME-accredited JHU CloudCME course and support updates for emerging SFMP categories such as GLP-1s and medical devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience as permitted by Johns Hopkins University equivalency guidelines.

Total Rewards

The base salary range is 62,900 to 110,100 USD per year. Exact compensation depends on location, skills, experience and other qualifications. Johns Hopkins offers a total rewards package to support health, life, career and retirement goals.

Education and Experience Equivalency

Per Johns Hopkins equivalency policy, 30 undergraduate credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. Up to two years of non-related coursework may be considered when applicable.
