AI Engineer, Manager - Tax Transformation
Job Description
This role leads the design, development, deployment, and ongoing support of custom AI applications for Deloitte Tax, directing a team of engineers, driving project execution, and ensuring scalable Python‑based solutions while engaging with clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Set and enforce project wide coding standards and best practices.
- Perform in-depth code reviews to uphold guidelines and ensure quality.
- Contribute both autonomously and in close collaboration with the team.
- Provide clear guidance to team members and manage day‑to‑day workflows.
- Maintain regular communication with clients.
- Architect, build, and maintain robust, scalable Python applications.
- Write clean, efficient, maintainable code following established standards.
- Tune performance and scalability for effective data handling.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
- Identify and resolve technical issues to ensure reliability and performance.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, processes, and workflows.
- Mentor junior developers to foster a collaborative and productive environment.
Requirements
- Hybrid work model requiring US Tax professionals to co‑locate in person 2 to 3 days per week.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Five or more years of development experience with robust Python applications.
- Hands‑on web development experience with FastAPI and Pydantic for data validation.
- Proficiency in asynchronous and parallel programming with asyncio.
- Experience in Agile environments and applying core design patterns.
- Proficiency in .NET Core, ASP.NET Core Web API, and databases (SQL/NoSQL, EF 6+).
- Ability to travel up to 10 percent on average.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
- Active accreditations obtained including one of the following:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
- Licensed Attorney

Compensation and location
Location: Jersey City, NJ (hybrid)
Salary: USD 128,025 - 261,625 per year
