Job Description

Support accurate, secure, and responsibly used institutional data while helping power Cincinnati State’s reporting environment. This onsite Data Analyst role works closely with data stewards, functional departments, and information security to strengthen data governance, improve data quality, and enable consistent institutional and state reporting.

What you’ll do

  • Help develop and maintain institutional data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, and procedures
  • Assist with data dictionaries, glossaries, and metadata repositories to keep definitions and metadata current
  • Partner with data stewards and functional leaders to document data definitions, ownership, usage rules, and IT data retention
  • Monitor and analyze data quality issues across enterprise systems, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions
  • Support governance activities tied to FERPA and other applicable regulatory or institutional requirements (including GDPR where applicable)
  • Assist in defining data classification standards and appropriate data access controls
  • Collaborate with information security on data-related risk assessments and controls
  • Maintain and enhance the College’s institutional reporting environment (Entrinsik Informer), including reports, datasets, dataviews, jobs, and data security
  • Analyze trends and patterns to support institutional decision-making
  • Provide technical support for state reporting (HEI)
  • Deliver training and guidance to campus users on data standards and best practices
  • Serve as a business analyst by connecting business needs to IT solutions, including modifying existing solutions and building new data solutions
  • Use the ITS ticket system to support production systems and respond to support issues in a well-documented and auditable way, while adhering to Service Level Agreements
  • Support troubleshooting, monitor tickets, and provide support documentation for ITS staff and end users
  • Provide project management updates for assigned projects; participate in assigned initiatives under direction from your supervisor
  • Receive cross-training from senior staff and interface with internal clients and ITS staff as needed

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer/data science (or related IT degree) and 4 years of experience
  • OR an associate’s degree and 6 years of experience
  • OR 8 years of experience

Specific experience

  • Data warehousing, data governance, and data dictionary
  • Reporting tools including Entrinsik Informer, Tableau, Power BI, and Crystal Reports
  • Database experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Access, MySQL, and other SQL tools
  • Higher education ERP knowledge/experience with Ellucian Colleague
  • Working with large/complex datasets
  • State and federal reporting experience, including experience with federal financial aid
  • Software development experience with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, Java, or other SQL tools

Compensation and role details

  • Location: Cincinnati, OH (onsite)
  • Salary: USD 75,000 per year
  • Reports to: ERP Colleague Supervisor
  • Paygrade: 21
  • Contractual affiliation: SEIU
  • Exempt classification: Exempt
  • Status: Full-Time
