Job Description
Analytics Engineer role at Cox Automotive in Atlanta, GA (onsite) with a salary range of USD 101,500 to 169,100 per year.
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive data informed decision making for growth and business optimization.
- Build and maintain foundational assets such as a Data Dictionary and a Query Repository, establishing standards and traceability for monitoring the health of Cox Automotive Consumer & Marketing Solutions products; collaborate with stakeholders to optimize these assets.
- Collaborate with analysts to define data asset requirements, translating metrics and use cases into asset development based on database schemas or by coordinating with data scrum teams; identify opportunities to optimize assets with a focus on runtime performance.
- Support the development and maintenance of data models using dbt and SQL transformations deployed to Snowflake, following a lifecycle from stakeholder intake to production deployment.
- Participate in version controlled development workflows using GitHub, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD processes to ensure reliable data deployments.
- Maintain data lineages that document metrics in each report, their queries, and data sources; proactively suggest improvements to documentation to ease future updates and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to semantic layer documentation and metadata to enable AI powered analytics tools to interpret natural language queries against business data.
- Develop and maintain anomaly detection and alerting capabilities for data assets; continuously improve detection methods and thresholds to ensure data quality.
- Apply advanced analytics methods and collaborate with analysts or scrum teams to identify root causes of data anomaly alerts.
- With limited manager oversight, administer access to analytics tools.
- Support BI tool strategy projects with leadership, focusing on optimizing platforms to align with analytics needs.
- Maintain and optimize technologies that enable the analytics practice and team operations, including SharePoint, operational insights, and various automation such as insights and workflow automation.
- Leverage AI and GenAI applications to augment task execution, improve workflow efficiency, and accelerate delivery of analytics deliverables.
- Learn and apply analytics technologies (web analytics tools, SQL-based databases, data visualization software, AI/GenAI capabilities) and coordinate with vendors to resolve issues.
- Support Analytics Leads or other leaders on company initiatives; may lead project execution to meet milestones after aligning with leadership.
- Guide other analysts on advanced techniques and validate their work.
- Collaborate with managers to define priorities and deliver against business goals, working independently and with cross-functional teams.
- Operate with limited supervision; proactively optimize existing solutions.
- Travel up to 5 percent for same-day or overnight business trips.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship; no OPT, CPT, STEM OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Residence within commutable distance to the Atlanta office.
- Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of experience, or 18 years of related experience.
- Intermediate SQL programming skills and knowledge of SQL based relational databases; experience with ETL processing of big data.
- 6+ years experience with SQL based relational databases (e.g., Athena, Redshift, Snowflake); Snowflake preferred.
- 6+ years experience with BI tools (Power BI, Domo, Tableau).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Web analytics knowledge (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) highly preferred.
- Experience with data transformation tools such as dbt, including model development, testing, and documentation preferred.
- Familiarity with version control systems (GitHub) and CI/CD workflows for data pipeline deployment.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Snowflake capabilities, including Cortex AI features for semantic layer and natural language analytics.
- Previous experience with AI/GenAI applications to augment tasks or workflows, including AI assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).
- Ability to learn and apply AI/GenAI capabilities as part of analytics operations, including using large language models for code generation, documentation, data quality analysis, and automation.
- Previous experience with machine learning or automation, especially anomaly detection, threshold setting, or natural language generation, a plus.
- Tableau Server certification and AWS Data Analytics certification are pluses.
- Ability to work directly with vendors to resolve issues and support long term projects and initiatives.
- Willingness to learn and use analytics technologies (web analytics tools, work management software, AI/GenAI capabilities).
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams; capable of consulting stakeholders for optimal outcomes.
- Ability to anticipate stakeholders' needs and provide proactive solutions that strengthen partnerships.
- Ability to develop scalable processes and standards to improve team efficiency.
