The Natural Language Processing Data Scientist role focuses on information extraction from unstructured clinical text, NLP data curation, and building NLP pipelines to support research and healthcare decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and deployment of advanced information extraction and analysis within a healthcare setting, applying Python based NLP methods.
- Oversee creation and governance of validated NLP datasets using Label Studio, ensuring high data quality across the project lifecycle.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize end to end data and algorithm pipelines, following data science lifecycle best practices.
- Improve NLP and data science infrastructure by creating reusable code and resources for researchers, engineers, and clinicians.
- Collaborate with clinicians and data teams to guide research initiatives, offering expert NLP insights to meet complex clinical needs.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently, monitoring progress and delivering milestones on schedule.
- Communicate findings through written reports, presentations, and manuscripts tailored to technical and non technical audiences.
- Stay current with developments in NLP, ML, and data science and apply best practices to raise the impact of research and analytics activities.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required and the candidate must clear a U.S. government background check.
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or a directly related field; the major should be suitable for the position at the bachelor level or higher.
- Alternatively, a combination of education and experience can satisfy the requirement: courses totaling 30 semester hours in the major field plus additional relevant education or experience.
