Senior Machine Learning Engineer, E-Commerce Risk Control

Senior Machine Learning Engineer on TikTok's E-Commerce Risk Control team, responsible for inventing and deploying ML models to mitigate e-commerce risks while advancing privacy, interpretability, and risk governance.

Responsibilities

• Invent, implement, and deploy cutting edge ML algorithms; build prototypes and explore novel solutions to mitigate business risks in TikTok e-commerce platforms, including fraudulent merchants, cheating influencers, malicious users, information security issues, and cross domain risk challenges.
• Apply representation learning, graph models, deep learning, transfer learning, and multi task learning to boost problem detection efficiency and rapidly block risks while optimizing key metrics in the e-commerce ecosystem.
• Monitor and attribute principal metrics to detect shifts in risk and business trends; proactively identify potential attacks; continuously refine risk-control strategies and contribute to risk governance and business model improvements.
• Mine and analyze large-scale e-commerce content and user behavior data to create both short-term and long-term user profiles; improve model precision and recall; enhance robustness, automation, and generalization.
• Advance risk ML capabilities in privacy, compliance, interpretability, and risk perception; design models tailored to content e-commerce and build a leading risk control algorithm system for the domain.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, or related STEM fields.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience delivering ML models for large-scale projects at internet companies.
• Strong coding skills in Python, C++, and Java, with familiarity in at least one major ML or deep learning platform.
• Solid understanding of supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning techniques; ability to build business algorithms using appropriate methods.
• Critical, objective thinking with data-driven, results-oriented communication; capable of working with high autonomy.

JOB INFORMATION

Location: San Jose, CA, onsite. Base salary range: USD 187,040 to 359,720 per year. Eligible for discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units; day-one benefits apply and may vary by location.
