This onsite Senior Data Scientist role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Dallas, TX focuses on capacity planning for AWS Support. The position models contact and volume forecasting and develops forecasting, optimization, and data-driven solutions to improve operations and reduce costs. The role partners with data engineering, operations, workforce management, and finance to scale modeling across the network.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement data management and strategy frameworks covering data collection, storage, integration, and safeguarding data quality and integrity.
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify data challenges and opportunities, design data-driven solutions, and align the data strategy with organizational goals.
- Perform thorough analyses to determine data needs and requirements, assess current data infrastructure and systems, identify gaps, and propose innovative improvements.
- Utilize large-scale data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Hadoop to manage big data and support efficient model training and evaluation.
- Continuously monitor and refine machine learning models by incorporating stakeholder feedback, tracking performance in production, and exploring new algorithms to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and implement machine learning models that drive business value by analyzing historical data to forecast outcomes and inform strategic plans.
- Analyze customer data and market trends to support data driven go to market strategies with higher likelihood of success.
- Analyze financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize pricing, and forecast revenue growth to inform leadership decisions.
- Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, supporting process improvements and improved customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with data querying languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python), or statistical/mathematical software (R, SAS, Matlab, etc.).
- 4+ years of data science experience.
- Experience with statistical models such as multinomial logistic regression.
